London Heathrow Airport

As British airports go, London Heathrow Airport is the largest and busiest. Furthermore it is the busiest in Europe and the seventh busiest in the world! Fortunately for me, I arrived at and would be departing from terminal 5. So my time there, although slightly longer than expected, I will explain more in a moment, was rather smooth, for I did not have to move far between my arrival and departure gates.

Flight Delayed

My flight was due to leave at 9am with an 8am boarding time.. However, shortly after 8:20 we were informed of an aircraft change and short delay. After receiving a £10 refreshment voucher, I headed to one of the many cafes for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. Although, this being London Heathrow, the £10 voucher did not go far, for I still had to pay over £6.

Waiting at London Heathrow Airport, by far wasn’t the worst experience of my life, but it was far from the best. Many of the shops were not open, and at least half of those which were open seemed to be rather lacking in staff. I attempted to purchase an energy drink, forced to use a self service machine I was confronted with an ID check. No alcohol, only a simple energy drink. Yet, with not a single staff member in sight to verify my age and complete the transaction, I had no choice but to abandon the drink and leave empty handed.

Boarding

The departure gate had also been changed, but as the new boarding time approached, the screens all still displayed the original gate. After speaking to no less than three separate British Airways staff members, I finally managed to get the updated information verbally, the screens were updated shortly after. I made my way to the revised gate and waited to board my flight.
